Fishing mini-game for Broken Cask.

Gone Fishing can be used once per week as a Special Action.

Innkeeper begins with L0 Fishing skill. Can be increased up to L3 (see below).

Innkeeper begins with a L1 rod. It can be increased up to L6 (see below).

Create a deck of cards using just A-6 of all four suits.

Shuffle and then lay cards face down in a 3x4 grid.

To fish turn over a card. If it’s equal to or lower than your rod level, take a Fish action with the number of the card as the fish’s level.

Regardless of modifiers or fish level, a natural 1 is considered a failed catch.

If successful, gain the fish and continue play until all cards are turned over.

If the action fails, the fish is not caught. Remove it from play. In addition, the rod level decreases by 1 ( minimum L1).

If a 6 is rolled, mark Fish xp.

5xp  raises Fishing to L1. 10 more xp will then raise it to L2. And finally, 20 more xp will raise it to L3.

Rods can be increased in level by paying gold. 1 gold for each level added, up to L6.

Uses for fish (still thinking on this part, won’t have it finalized until I actually catch fish in my games):

Caught fish can be stored for a week and can be expended as a +1 bonus on Cooking Tasks. Limit 1 per task.

At the end of the week, any unused fish can be liquidated for gold at 1gp for every two fish.

This may see changes once I use it to keep the game balanced.

Simple gambling mini-game for Broken Cask:

Roll 2d6, take the higher number and refer to the Tips chart.

A 6 result is 1d6+2 instead of rare item.

This is the proposed wager. If you have enough gold to cover, you can choose to accept.

Opponent level is randomly rolled: 1-3 = L1, 4-5 = L2, 6 = L3.

Your Innkeeper selects either Heart or Mind, whichever is higher.

Remove the face cards from a deck of cards (keep the jokers in the deck) and draw a card. This is the target card to beat.

Draw a number of cards equal to the amount of gold wagered.

Reveal each card one at a time.

If a card equals or beats the target number, put it in a win stack. If it doesn’t, put it in a loss stack.

If a joker is drawn, draw another card and replace the target card with the new card and continue. Previous wins and losses remain in their stacks.

After all cards are revealed and tallied, add the opponent’s level to the losses and the Innkeeper’s chosen stat to the wins.

If the wins beats the losses, you gain the winnings. If not, you lose the amount of gold wagered.

Just played for about two hours. Lovely game!

Hello, I bought the game on amazon because I wanted a physical copy, but I don't want to write inside of it to use the worksheets. Would it be possible to have access to the pdf version?

sure! Please email me so we can talk further:

I just found this from the gardens expansion and it looks really great, I'd love to play it, will you be adding any community copies some time? Have a great new year!

yes! I will add some more community copies soon.

Thank you so much!

Hi there, I was just wondering if I missed them being posted? I've been checking, but haven't seen them, so just thought I'd ask. Thanks!

I’ve just added some more. Get them while they’re hot!

Thanks!

Just wanted to tell you how much I'm enjoying my first tavern. The Iron Toadstool doesn't have a great start, being situated at the edge of a desert and being haunted by thieving ghosts, but if anyone can save it then it's surely Gorge the Imposter (silk-wearing ex-military satyr with a gambling addiction).

Oh and I have some quick questions...

1. After resolving the first event of the session, are we able to roll for more events? RAW, I got the impression it was once per session but my next question has made me wonder...

2. Does +1 Brewing Forward mean:

  • +1 to the next Brewing Task in this session
  • +1 to the next Brewing Task in any session

If the latter, then it makes more sense that I only roll one task per session. However, the session end rules seem to imply that I erase all conditions unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Dude, this game looks like exactly what I need.

Is there any chance for some community copies? I can't pay anything in US$ in this store because I don't have an internacional credit card.

looks so fun! Any chance community copies are updated soon?

This game looks really cool, but I'm a bit low on money at the moment, is it possible to get a community copy?

Hello! This is a great idea. I'll look into setting it up.

That's amazing, thank you so much!

I've added 25 community copies of the game! I think I did it correctly but let me know if there are any issues.

Yes, just got a copy, can't wait to start reading it!
